We spent a blustery morning inside planning the details of our trip to Europe. We have had a dump of about 15cm of snow in the morning and afternoon that made dreaming of Tunisia even more appealing. So Andrew and I have hammered out what we think our itinerary will be for the first half of our trip. Here it is:
October 3rd 2006 leave Ottawa arrive in London England We are hoping to reconnect with some of our relatives there and make new connections for the next generation. I Sent off emails to my relatives and friends in England last night and am hoping that they will all be available for a visit over the 2 weeks we will be in England.
Oct 3-17th England
Oct. 17-24th Ireland Anyone who knows Julia well knows that she could not go to Europe without going to Ireland. The only other time she was there she was only able to stay for 3 days. It would be nice to do a little Gilbert family research while there this time.
Oct 24th We will fly to Paris this will be a very short (2 nights 3 days) "Look there is the Eiffel tower!" kind of trip.
Oct 26-Nov. 7 Paris to Poland. In Poland we plan on visiting Krakow, Auschwitz, Wieliczka and Ojcow National Park.
Nov. 7-17 We will be in Czech Republic. There is a beautiful medieval town called Cesky Krumlov that we will visit as well as a little time in Prague.
Nov. 17-22 Slovakia (Still to be planned)
Nov. 22- 28 Austria Andrew went here on a band trip in high school and raved about how beautiful it was. The planning still needs to be done.
Nov. 28-Dec. 1 Rome "Look kids the Colloseum!"
Dec. 1 Tunisia
Dec. 18 Tunisia to London
Dec. 19 London home to Ottawa I have to go now. We are heading out to our nephew Hayden's christening. I know our itinerary is pretty sketchy right now. There are certainly lots of holes to fill. We are excited that we have a rough idea of where we are going to be and when. Now we can dig down into the details.
