It registered but I just didnt have the strength to get out of bed.
Figures ran through my head calculating the cost of not going and I contemplated the loss of the experience and the mood Sandra would be in if I did not go.
All added up I convinced myself to go and got out of bed. Had some quick breakfast and we were picked up by our guide. It was Sandra, two other Argentinian people and me in the car. I slept all the way to the colony which was about an hour and a half drive. That felt quite good to be honnest.
We had our first stop at a local marina and took a speedboat in to the sea. About 40 minutes later we arrived at the spot where the dolphins were supposed to be. A few minutes of peering in to the ocean waters all around us we could indeed see some of them passing by. I tried to take some pictures but they move incredibly fast so I only managed to get them on video.
I was not in a good state to be speeding around on this boat though so I must admit I was quite happy to be heading back after about 20 minutes. Another 40 minutes of keeping my organs inside later we arrived safely back at shore. Quite a relief but I was happy to have done it since seeing the dolphins is quite a wonderful experience!
After a short rest at a local cafe we moved on to the penguin colony. We walked around there for about an hour on the designated and well constructed pathways. Penguins were all around and it was pretty cool to observe them in their natural habitat. They dont do much though so if you go there dont expect to see anything spectacular :-) Me loving nature it was once again an experience to be remembered though.
Having enjoyed the penguins doing absolutely nothing for long enough we got back in to the car and the guide drove us back to Puerto Madryn. A 90 minute drive in which we could admire what Patagonia has to offer mostly: large plains of nothing. It's truly amazing, when I left home I thought there was not enough space on this planet for all the humans. I changed my mind....
We might have difficulty to provide food etc but space we still have in abundance.
Got back to the hostel and had a very pleasant evening dining out with some of our friends. The night ended quite a bit earlier then the previous one after a couple of beers and some good conversation.
End of yet another good night in Puerto Madryn.
