I managed to get out of paying for another night in the hostel by crashing in Sam's room which was all good, shit me was
it an early start the next morning up at 6am after going to bed at 2.30 for a 4 n half hour drive to Pahia aka The Bay of
Islands!! The amount of times you bump into people you've met in other places is ridiculous, in the base hostel i met a
couple ppl from Fiji and then jumping on the Kiwi Experience bus was Jenny from Fiji who turns out to be doin pretty
much the same trip round NZ as moi!

I decided to stay 3 nights in Pahia as it worked out to be an extra $4 to stay an extra night plus the bus didn't run on
the previous day so it made sense. I met another couple through Jenny called Charmaine & Ben who unfortunately for them
are dirty Scummers from the land of Scum (Southampton). The 4 of us ended up in a dorm together, where some1 who had
been there a while had their stuff spread across the dorm and all over the bathroom so of course i just made the most
of it and used the free supplies...ssshhh!!

So there were a few treks arouns Pahia to do we decided to do a 2 n half hour trek to Haruru Falls as we were told it
didn't take that long mad man Mike come along for the trip as well as Gemma. Wel before we'd even got to where the
trek began we'd been walking for half hour, then we got a lil lost but were soon on the right trak. We were walking
through forests and swamps were there were geckos, popping shrimps and a family of cormrents in the trees. This walk
went on and on and on and a couple of hours later we arrived at the falls which to be honest i was pretty imprerssed with
as it was more than just the trickle I was expectin. I'm sure there are better falls around but this bein the 1st one i've
seen was pretty cool as far as waterfalls go. Instead of heading back along the trakl we went for what looked like the
shorter option along the road. No way did any of us went to walk back, 4 went off in front and a couple were left behind
including myself. I thought it wud be quite funny to try hitch hike a ride back, instead i noticed as bus had pulled in
behind us so I had a chat with the driver and matched to hitch a ride for 2 of us back to Pahia for a couple dollars.
It was hilariuous seeing the other groups faces as we drove past them on the bus, we wud have carried on going but the
driver insisted on picking them up. Forgot to mentioned the bus turned out to be a school bus full of little kids
they found it hilarious. We were all pretty relieved as the journey was a lot longer than we thought with no paths or anything so we would have been pretty screwed, waiting for us back at the hostel was a free pint and a bbq!!

After we tucked in we hung out in the bar for a bit and met a few people, there wasn't a great deal going on as it was Monday night, good stuff really coz i was shattered.

We were gonna get up early and head out on a boat trip but instead had a nice lay in so just changed our plans and were gonna head out in the afternoon. The boat trip cost $80 with the promise of seeing dolphins, we got pretty unlucky there was a spotting of dolphins so we got pretty excited until we were told there were only 2 and yeah we see them but for a split second. Just like that it was over and we were heading to the hole in the rock, which was a big hole in a rock we looked at it went through it then come out of it and that was pretty much it. We cruised past some islands and stuff and learnt a bit about the history of which i remember nothing lol. The highlight was heading across to Russle, the first

capital of New Zealand! We found the 1st and oldest church in NZ then headed over the hill to the bay on the other side,me and Jenny headed along the beach then climbed over some rocks and spotted some weird creatures in the rock pools.

Somehow we managed to spend 3 hours there before heading back over to Pahia. The noodles for dinner were pretty awesome
especially with the ham on top.
