Arrived in Cuenca amused to see a sign outside the bus station not permitting any goats into the station, silly them, of course goats arenīt allowed, although cows, sheep and chicken apparently are as there was no sign banning them! Arrived in the evening and found a trendy little hostel called El Cafecito. That evening we didnīt venture far, only 2 steps into the funky restaurant of our hostel.
Getting very frustrated with our lack of Spanish I was thinking about doing a Spainish course in the city of Cuenca, as I had been told itīs a cool city to stay for a bit. Walking around trying to find Spanish schools that werenīt too expensive was not too hard. The city's cobblestone streets, towering cathedrals, and marble and whitewashed buildings give it a colonial air like nowhere else weīd been to in Ecuador and we had a great day exploring with the most beautiful blue skies! Anyway after spending the day wandering around I decided that there was not enough to keep me there for a week whilst doing Spanish courses so we headed out for a delicious meal and then decided to head off the next day to some Inca ruins up north.
The next day while waiting for our hotdogs (breakfast) at the bus station I had my little bag swiped from under my feet, before I time to realise the little bugger had gone. Unfortunatle the bag had a lot of our valuables in so we were quite gutted about losing it. It didnt take us long to get down to the poilce station and get a crime report and back to the bus station within the hour. Sitting there thinking about how annoying having the bag stolen was we decided we needed some quality time by a beach. So completely changing our plans we got the next bus to Guayquill, so we could hopefully fly to the Galapagos.
