Jamie and I took the 6hour public bus up to Siem Reap and Henry travelled in a bit more style up the river on a boat having the opportunity to admire the scenery (we just went for the cheapest option $5 each) We arrived at about the same time, checked into our hostel and arranged a tuk tukl driver to take us around the temples the next day.
The 5am start came as a bit of a shock to us, we decided to get a day pass for Angkor Wat as we thought there was a strong possibility we could get templed out. Arriving along with all the other tourists to see sunrise over Angkor Wat we strolled into the temple to look around before it got too busy. The temple is absolutely amazing, so much detail and time went into creating it, it really is a masterpiece. Although impressive it wasn't my favorite temple as it felt a little sterile and was missing the character that the other temples had. My favourite was Bayon, which was created based on faces of Gods, no one knows what Gods but whoever they are, they are very impressive. All in all we looked at 13 temples including the one with all the trees growing out of it which was used in Tomb Raider. After 9 hours we felt a little templed out so went back for dinner with our Dutch friends and Andy, whom we bumped into half way round the Angkor site.
