Wanted to go it alone in the Mekong but this proved to be a little more difficult than we thought. To get local buses etc was going to cost as much as taking yet another organised tour and after the Chu chi one we were loathed to go. But for $7 we had no real choice. We jumped on another crammed mini bus and headed for a boat trip on the river. When we arrived we were ferried on to a boat and immediately taken to a Coconut candy factory where we we briefly shown how to make the candy then taken to the shop! After that we were taken to a honey farm to see honey being made. Funnily enough its the say as we do in the UK... One bonus was that we got to handle a Python.
After lunch we were taken to a fruit farm and had to sit through some locals sort of singing (for like wailing) while playing traditional instruments. Not sure how traditional these were as the one was electric and played through a stereo.
When we got back to My Tho (were we started) we managed to get the bus to take us to Vinh Long rather than back to Saigon.
