After losing a day at the hands of Quantas Airlines, we arrived in Sydney on Wednesday at 6am. The journey from London to Sydney took 21 hours with only an hour out for re-fuelling. The flight itself was very uncomfortable, why is it I always get sat behind the person who reclines there chair as soon as the seat belt sign goes off and doesn't put it back until the air hostess tells them to as we are due for landing. On the plus side we did have touch screens and lots of great movies to watch - Love Guru is a must if you want something funny to watch!!!
So we arrive in Sydney and manage to get picked up by our free shuttle which takes us directly to our Hostel, something I'm very pleased about as I couldn't imagine walking around trying to find our hostel after that flight and it's chucking it down!!! I think someone is trying to tell me something as I decided to leave my waterproof jacket in London thinking I wouldn't see a drop - how wrong I was!!
Our first day in Sydney didn't see us doing much as we were so tired, but we have since made up for that. Still very dull and overcast we ventured out into Sydney walking through the Royal Botanic Gardens which are amazing even in this weather. From here you get some amazing views of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge which you will see in the pictures.
We then walked round to an area of Sydney called the Rocks, this is the old town which is just under the Harbour Bridge. This place is the historic heart of Sydney and still has all its old features including the oldest pub in Sydney!!
Due to it been dull and miserable we thought we would stop off at Oz's number one attraction the Sydney Aquarium which made the one in Dubrovnik seem tiny in comparison. This place is amazing; you get to walk through an underground transparent tunnel and are inches away from Sharks and huge Sting rays as well as every tropical fish you could think off. We even found Nemo! Check the pictures out as this place was great!
Our Second day in Sydney saw it been the hottest day so far this year at a staggering 36 degrees! Luckily for us it was cloudy as I would have died. We continued our trek around the other parts of Sydney we hadn't seen yesterday and revisited the Opera House in the sun - when it looks even more impressive.
You'll be all pleased to know that we are coming back to Sydney in a week's time to do the Bridge Climb. It has been booked; so on the 07th November at 2.05pm I will be gripping to the Sydney Harbour Bridge for life. Let's hope I don't freeze and spoil the trip up for some other people in the group.
Enjoy
