Croatia just keeps on getting better and better, although it's hard to believe as it has to be the most welcoming, sunniest and just damn right gorgeous, at every location......er except Zagreb!!
We were greeted from the ferry port by our lovely landlady who escorted us to our apartment. Much to our delight she upgraded us for free to a four person apartment with a balcony with the views of the fortress and bell tower - amazing!! The apartment was just like a home with satellite tv and even...get this... A BLOOMIN TOASTIE MAKER!!!!
Hvar town gets the most sunshine hours of any island in Europe due to it's location and we aint been disappointed here!! Hvar has everything you could wish for including a big supermarket, in which we made the most enormous hamburgers!! We have both agreed that apartments are the way to go and we do love to cook a homemade meal and eat it out on the balcony with the gorgeous backdrops - ah bliss!!
We made it up to the fortress, and to our suprise, there was nobody there to take our kuna, so we went in anyway and had a nosey around and sunbathed on one of the gun turrets for a few hours. We also visited the spooky dungeon before leaving. When we got to the gate, the guy had returned from wherever....he looked at us....we looked at him......and then he said goodbye....and we made a run for it......Hvar's major attraction, seen for free!!!
We have been slumbing it on the beach and have been catching up on some reading and consuming our fair share of cheap as chips beer!!
Everyone should stop what they are doing and come here!!
