Hello Again from the sweltering heat of Rome,

We have again been scouring Italy for the finest views, the cheapest beer and the tackiest shops!!
We are writing this in 40 degree heat and there seems to be let up in the temp but that hasn't stopped us from our exploration.

We are back on track after suffering our first case of culture burn-out in Siena and have joined the rat race that is Rome.  We had a quick stop off at the lovely and quaint Perugia along the way where the views and quiet life of the hills were just the ticket for us before entering the chaotic Rome!

There were some highlights in Perugia which include being ripped off by the pizza restaurant (service charge being nearly half of what the food cost!) and a dodgy train ticket machine which doesn't accept notes - the b*stard thing Palatino
Palatino
! But it was not all bad, we managed to enjoy the Festival Delle Nazioni which promotes the Artistic Heritage of Perugia with Culture and Music and on our last night we were treated to a parade where people dressed up and marched down the street to the church where the Mayor made his speech (I'm sure it was great). Also we set the wrong time for our alarm in the morning, and so began the Italian Job of getting up, dressed, packed and to the station within half an hour - we did it with time to spare!!  So we are a little wiser!

Rome is a more beautiful place than we thought (we have been suprised somewhat as we were expecting another Milan) but the special features like the coluseeum and the Spanish steps were disappointing but it is still lovely non the less.  We also visited the Vatican City which was an amazing place and it looked like something off Gladiator!

Our Guest House is in perfect location to the Train Station and is about a 15 minute walk to the coluseeum although in this heat it feels like an hour. We have a lovely room although the lady that runs it is very strange and can be heard most mornings shouting down the phone at her boyfriend, and boy can she SHOUT!! We read it in the review but thought it was a one off, we had tears yesterday morning while she was on the phone............

The pictures are only of Perugia at the moment due to a lack of cyberspace but do be patient as the Rome ones will be uploaded shortly.

We will also be uploaded some of the fashion victims that we have stumbled upon including some amazing sock-sandals combos so stay tuned!
