What a great day! Got up and was off to Paddington to get my train to Hungerford. How amazing to see that just 15 minutes out of London(allbeit on a fast train) you hit farm land and the countryside. Everything is so green and lush.

Jane and Mrs Zipp were there to fetch me at the station.  At last I got to see them, (they had been due to spend time with me in Umhlanga but the flood......another story!).

It was market day and we went first to the Hungerford market and then onto Marlborough market.  Everything was so inexpensive compared to London!  Imagine having a choice of any 3 cheeses for 1GBP.  I got Brie, a Camembert like, and goats milk herbed cheese to take back to London.  We picked up a few things for lunch and then it was off to Jane's.

What a beautiful apartment in an old historic building - really great, but the best was to come - lunch al fresco in the garden. Oh did I forget to mention - left London all grey and rainy and just past Reading bright sunshine!  The garden was beautiful and big with a huge laden apple tree, and we had the vast lawn all to ourselves.  What a feast, Proscuitto, Salami, salad, focaccia and cheese.  Washed down with a jug of Pimms followed by Eton mess.

Lots of laughter and catching up - then it was time for me to get to the station to catch my train. Thanks for the lift Richard.  A really great day, nothing like the English countryside on a sunny day.
