The next morning we crawled out of the tent to be confronted by the enormity of the Redwoods dominating our campsite, we knew they were big when we got there but they kind of disappeared up into the darkness so we couldn't see the tops. These things were bloody huge!

We pulled the tent out of the ground and packed up (after Adam bummed a giant wooden frog we found), got directions to Pfeiffer Beach from the camp staff and headed down to the beach for breakfast after stopping for supplies at a random little shop between the camp and the beach.

It's a little hard to find if you don't know where to spot the turning off PCH but the drive down is almost as picturesque as the beach itself, as you wind your way gently downhill through meadows with the odd horse and abandoned car, toward the beach. It's best enjoyed when there's no one
there, we managed to arrive about 8:30am n had the place to ourselves
for a good hour and even then we only had to share it with a handful of
other people.

You have to pay to use the car park at Pfeiffer Beach as it's a National Park/conservation area and the fees go towards the upkeep of the place, it's only a few dollars so it's no big deal when you consider the place you're getting to see.

Wandering down the path between the car park and the beach gives nothing away until you come out at the end of the thickly wooded path and see the purple sands and rock arches that this beach is known for.

We sat and ate breakfast and wandered about a bit taking photos before realising we'd been there for two hours, it felt more like 15 minutes.

We jumped back in the Jeep and headed for our next stop; the (in)famous Hearst Castle.
