Life in Seville
Entry 3 of 26 | show all | print this entry |
We are settled into our apartment in Seville. To our delight, we are in the middle of the Barrio Santa Cruz, which is a maze of streets and alleys. It seems that every corner you turn, there is a cozy cafe, bar or interesting shop. It is a very atmospheric place. We live on Calle Levies and down the street around the corner is the famous flamenco joint La Carboneria.
Overall things are great. I taught my first class at the University on friday. The building dates from colonial times and was the old royal tobacco factory. Its a maze of imposing hallways and courtyards. There is also a place where you can get tapas and drinks. I have 9 students but several were absent sinc thursday was a holiday and many decided to extend their day off, which is perfectly understandable.
We are only 10 minutes from the city center, which is astoundingly beautiful. We are including some pictures of our first days here. Tonight I attend my first bullfight.

Glad you guys made it there safe and sound. Sounds like the boys are wishing they went along for the ride! Keep us posted on your doings. James, enjoy the bullfights, cockfights, and whatever other shows you might stumble across ;)
