We arrived at the tourist hotspot that is Grenada with a bit of trepidation, due to previous Colonial City experience (ie nice buildings and all, but bugger all to do!), but were plesently surplrised.. On check in at the Bearded Monkey, we found numerous friends we had made further up the country, and more friends of frends too. It seems as though as the continent narrows, we all end up in the same spots...

Grenada was cool. After a few hectic trips, was very nice to chill in hammocks and do nothing for a couple of days, as well as an overnight trip to the Monkey Hut, on Lagoona de Apoyo. This is a beautiful, clear and deep crater lake of a nearby volcano, and the Hut is on the water edge, with a Marlborough Sounds-like view. A beautiful spot to regroup and eat a few beers..

The next day we were off up a nearby volcano to check out what exactly a cloud forrest is. Contrary to advice, James decides a leisurly stroll up the mountain would be a good way to kill an hour. When Paul and other friends turn up 1.5 hrs later in the truck, i i've completed a vertical ascent, and at 35 degrees too. Anyway, apparently a cloud forrest is a regular forrest, but because it spends most of its time in the clouds, there'a all sorts of moss and stuff around. Thrilling. Nice views over Grenada and Lago de Nicaragua, though.

Dispues, the highlight of the day awaits.. Ziplining down the volcano.. This is like a massive flying fox where you get harnessed on, and some mad Nicaragian either pushes you off, or comes with you, holding ytou upside down, or in a multitude of slightly embarassing positions.. A recommendation for all, and am planning on finding more as the trip progresses.
