Hello
Warrnambool - Is where the Great Ocean Road begins. We stayed here a few nights first on a campsite and then slept in the car at the back of a hostel which had a great view. They let us use their facillities, so much cheaper than the campsites. Warnambool is a nice little place which is a good base to see lots of things and go surfing which we haven't done yet because it is still too cold! From here we headed off on the Great Ocean road. The road that everyone talks about and reccommends but will it meet our expectations!! Oh I forgot we went to the Grampians!!! Sorry
First stop the Grampians for a night of camping in the national park with just a toilet and a non flushing one at that. Not that bad really it was one of those more eco ones with just the hole! We slept in the car, we thought it might be safer as we didn't want any animals getting inside the tent. ( we could have camped really) We had a campfire which we managed to get started after I intervened and keep it going. It was quite the ideal night!! We like the nature camping
Well it does!!! ( ocean road) We did the road in stages stopping off at places along the way!! I told James expect to stop every 5 mins or less so we don't miss anything. I had to prepare him because he likes to know his destination and get settled. First viewing the bay of islands on yet another grey and windy day! Well the sun did make a short appearance! The bay was still beautiful and the sand was so white. The Grotto came next which was picrturesque with the water behind. Next up London bridge, which collapsed not that long ago with a couple stranded on one side who were aparrently having an affair which was then of course braodcasted on national television.
Port Campbell was where we layed our head for the night a very small little place which just one main street and campsite. The next day we headed for the 12 Apostles along the way seeing Sentinel rock and Loch Ard Gorge. Finally making our way to the Apostles by this point we were in our own convoy of cars moving from one sight to the next passing the same people! Oh and in true tradition it started raining when I got out of the car. Any way the 12 Apostles I tried to count 12 but I definately couldn't see 12. They almost look like they have just been put there.
The Great Ocean has some specatcular scenery and is well worth it. It reminded me of the coast at home down south but it is so colourful here and pretty in a different way.
