Seems like ages since our last post some events maybe out of order also some names have been changed to protect the innocent like the time ruth got caught squatting behind a bush on this occaision I will refer to her as Bob to save her any embarrasment. We left Guangzhou on the night bus this was not a normal  bus, the seats had been replaced with bunk beds with fusty blankets .I was on the top bunk with Ruth below me this was like been twelve again only  this time i didnt have an older brother below me kickin me and nickin my pillow. The 12 hour journey was pretty rubbish the bumpy roads the none stop honking horns and the other passengers talking some funny language made sleep impossible but this did'nt bother Ruth cos she had made a friend . Greg was an English teacher who lived in China he also had a chinese wife who must have been twenty years his younger read what you like into that. Ruth liked Greg so much she decicded on our first day in Yangshou we should go swimming in the river with him and his wife .Smashin I thought swimming in a crocadile infested river with JR bloody Ewing and his wife Ting Tong straigth after a12 hour bus journey. As it turned out Greg was a nice bloke he bought the ale all afternoon his wife even bought some duck necks to nibble on, the river was set in absolutley beautiful mountain scenery and there was'nt any crocadiles we had good day.We stayed in the gigglin tree the rooms were converted barns basic complete with spiders as big as your fist, mosquitos that love the taste of Ruth, huge bats at night .But for me and Ruth this was the type of place we' ed been dreamin of when planning this trip everything we need in a rural setting . I cant describre the scenery you will have to wait for pictures. We made friends here Christa the American an English couple who now live in Hong kong also the owners were really nice to us I played badminton with one of there sons he had special powers well he said he did they did'nt seem so special to me he just kept catchin the shuttle cock making whooshing noise spittin alot and then throwin it on the floor thus ruining the game then i smashed a plant pot with some of my own special powers .Im tired of writing now so I will continue later im going for a beer.

I will carry on, Ruth that is or is it Bob!! possibly because I seem to be having a lot of toilet issues at the moment but I getting better. Sarah (my sister) you would be proud I'm nearly like one of the locals I think I have the knack! Anyway enough of that angshou is really beautiful and I would advise anyone to visit!! There's lots to do and see and if you are ON A BUDGET like we are then you don't need to do all the trips because the scenery is enough!! We have been on a bamboo raft which we got as a deal from Greg's wife 120yuan for about 3 hours it was a great way to the see the scenery and the river. Going in the morning meant that it was very quiet in fact we were virtually on our own for the first couple of hours. The small waterfalls are particularly interesting. There is more to come on this entry!! check again soon

We decided to visit one of the many caves and have a mud bath we used the information in the hostel because there are apparently a few fake caves. We hired a tandem to go to the caves well I was being pathetic the day before on a bicycle, stop start stop start !! It's the heat you know!! So the tandem what a good idea we got there in no time at all!!! We jumped on to the mini bus and it took us into a village ( a cave in the middle of a village mmmm!) well there was!! We were on our again, the caves are quite impressive with every stalatmite and stalagtite having a name just like all the hills and bends in the river. I'm not sure about the risk assessment though it's wet and slippery and your giving me plastic jelly shoes to wear!! The mud was to be honest quite disgusting it got everywhere. James seemed more eager than me, he was for him straight in ( especially when james finds it difficult to put his head under the shower!!)

We saw the light show ( which was directed by the same bloke who did the displys for the Olympics in Beijing ) It was good but expensive I think!! Ynagshou is definatley a place I would visit again it's so peacefull and relaxing with lots to see and do!!
