A short trip to Guilin, it's a bigger place than I thought it was going to be. Definately more designed for the tourist, charging to see every hill and go  up every view point. James birthday, which was a little strange, couldn't quite plan for it as I usually do!! Took a visit to elephant hill (it looks vauguely like an elephants trunk) and James bought a zebra as a birthday present for 80p!! He was very happy with it! Then we went for a walk down the river which was nice and James spent his time spotting wildlife and making me stand still at every rustle in the grass. We went for a nice meal and james treated himself to a bottle of  'Newcastle Brown'.

Took a trip to Longsheng, I've been looking forward to this. We saw the ladies with the long hair apparently they are in the guiness book of records. It's very long and they wrap it all up in a kind of bun.  They make the most of the tourists putting on a show which we didn't go into ( we didn't know you had to pay for that aswell) Further on we came to the Dong-Xing Ping village ( I think that's what it was called) a very steep walk upto the top with great views on the way and worth it to see the rice fields at the top, very beautifull. The village itself is built on the hill and they build big three story woodern houses,  bigger than my house in Sheffield. You could get carried up to the top if you wanted to, on a wooden seat by two men, it didn't seem quite fair!! We could have stayed there which I had oringinally planned to do but we didn't know how easy it would be. They have lots of guest houses and the ladies in the village carry your rucksaks up for you! A good place to visit lots of traddition and culture we even tried the local food of bamboo rice ( rice cooked inside the bamboo)!!
