The adventure begins...finally

Big and touristy area. For example, Burger King was next door, Maccy Dīs across the street and KFC a few blocks down. Cultural. I went into the old centre on my second day to see all the historical stuff and pretend to have a serious, knowledgeable day. I even went on a tour of the monastery built in the 1500s, but really what i wanted to see was all the skulls and bones that have been dug up in their catacombs which is slightly creepy.
My spanish is being seriously tested as every taxi driver I find wants to jabber away really quickly and they refuse to slow down (much like their driving) so I find myself saying īsiīa lot and politely laughing.
Anyway, it was a typical city-based day and despite thick fog all over the city im really sunburnt. So obviously, my next stop is the desert...
So I finally reached Peru. Amazingly my taxi driver who was meant to pick me up at 10pm the night before was there at 3pm the day after and after some outrageous go-kart driving through town i got to my hostel. They really donīt know what lanes are - itīs basically a free for all with any space available on the road being taken, mentalists. Anyway I spent my first evening wandering along the cliffs on the coast and exploring the suburb of Miraflores.
