Mon temps dans la ville du Québec
Entry 60 of 64 | show all | print this entry |
Bonjour..
Quebec still rocks !! , having a great time. Its certainly good to be on the road again. people keep reminding me iv'e got just one week left, so i thank those people, I Thank them with a snow ball to the head.
It's been 5 nights now in this cute, adorable city of Quebec, my French has held out.... only because I've been able to speak English in most places and bumble my way round when someone doesn't speak English with hand signals funny faces ! If any one has any money to burn, you should check into the hotel which Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks used when filming "Catch Me If You Can" here, it will only cost you $500 a night !!!!!! I have pictures of the hotel so i will bring home, as i cant download these ones, their on film and i'm not developing them yet. So what have i been upto ??? Well, I've done heaps of walking, i cant get enough of the amazing buildings, and all the character here its unbelievable, In the old city, nearly every other house is a different colour and has coloured roofs, so you get yellow next to blue, next to red and so on, i guess like people buying coloured front doors back home, but on a much greater scale. I Played Frisby the other day in an ice rink (without the ice), Rob,Jack(oz)and Moi, its was mint, i'm getting pretty good now. It was a dam good workout in the end, the only downside was it was raining. but didn't matter i was having fun. I checked out the Quebec Museum, which was a long and tiring time, but a really interesting museum, as i expected it was full of art, typical french museum, but, it did have sections on the 'induits' (Eskimo's), and how they still remain to live of the land, it was a really interesting piece. I also discovered about the history of Canada and Quebec with regards to the wars and when Britain took control etc etc. 1764. and again that day lots of sightseeing around the city and lots of pics of all the buildings. Saturday became a bit more energetic again, hangovers in hand after a nights of spoons ( card game ), we headed to Mont St Anne, for some snowboarding, 4 of us went, Rob,Lucy,Mel and me, me being the only boarder the other 3 skied, it was a bit slushy, so very tough and i kept stacking and slipping on the ice, and finding myself, without wanting to, on a double black diamond mogul run. there was no way out, i had to do it, it was HELL. !!! moguls are not made for snowboards, unless your pro,and im not,so it took a while and was incredible hard work,i made it im glad to say, but not without a few sore bones and a sore head ! The north side of the hill was much better, compact snow and good long runs, all in all a good day.
Yesterday, being Sunday, i checked out the Notre dam of Quebec city, and the church where they filmed 'catch me if you can' its the very last scene when Tom Hanks arrests Lionardo Dicaprio outside the church, its supposed to be in Paris, but they filmed it here. and i took the ferry across to Levin, not the visit Levin as there is nothing to see, but to get a view from the other side of the St.Lawrence River, well worth it as i took it just before sunset and got some cool silhouette pictures of Old Quebec.
Rob Left last night on an 18hour bus journey to Halifax, Nova Scotia, hell still be on it haha, until 6pm from 1am,. ?OUCH?
Tomorrow i head back to Toronto on a 8 hour train ride stopping in Montreal for an hour, i will spend the weekend in the city, have Easter dinner with the Family and have a good old leaving party !! yeahaa !
Au Reviour
