yep, we went Seal watching, on a ruber duckie as there called. A Rib is the name of the boat, a dingy sorta thing with hard floor.
we got the front row seats, and headed out into the sea, whcih had a huge swell that day, so the waves were big and we were getting bounced all over the place, ( no sea sickness this time though ). he stopped near the first cave and slowly drifted into the cave which had around 100 seals in it, all fighting and making a hell of noise! it was mint. the waves were big inside the cave also and the boat dude was fighting to keep us out of the rocks, good fun! then we followed the coast line for an hour stopping at various spots to watch them fool around in the ocean, showing off infront of us, jumping out and doing ... i guess you'd call them tricks? jumping over each other and making the daft and funny noises at us. It was a good little trip, a nice change to driving on the road. and then we WERE back on the road, on probably the worst drive ever, close to worse then the desert in the northern OZ, long, straight, no scenery, and awful smells. bt it was finally over at 10pm, when we got to Grinelg beach backpackers. near the beach not on it. checked in showered and chilled out talking to some Tazzy's ( people form tazmania). We pursuaded the owner to let us have a late check out for free, so we didnt check out untill 1pm, should of been 10am, so a good lie in and chance to relax after one hell of a drive. the car was dropped of around 3pm today(tuesday) and we had done 2405.1 km, NICE. so far thats around 8000km for me, thats 4800 miles roughly. a fair treck. driving back hme will be a doddle now. Manchester to London, heck thats round the corner compared to places your have to drive in OZ. Tonight we have checked into a hostel in the city of adelaide, rather that on the beach, and tonight is the start of the South Australia bike ride ( forgot the actual name of it ) but is starts round the corner and theres some sort of party to get things going, so that should be good to check out.
an update --,.. im not going to New zeland tomorrow now, ive finally got hold of mr impossible Andy Crook, and hes about 250km out of adelaide and will be back by friday so im hanging around for him, ive delayed my flight to auckland and now leave on monday at 2pm ish. so ill get to see the big man. hair and all, mabye my hair will be longer and scruffier ? doubt it though.
now your uptodate probably forgot some things but hey.
ill get some pics on agian in the next day or two. got all the great ocean road pics and seal pics to upload from toms camera. ( oh yeah, anyone like goldie lookin chain? because toms the tour manager for them, and a few other bands too, so tickets anyone>?????)
take it easy friends
