We got up at about 4:30 this morning because we had to be out and on the bus by 5:30 to go to the airport. We flew from Beijing to Chengdu, the capitol of the Sichuan Province. The flight was a little almost 3 hours long, but there was a lot of turbulence. I slept most of the flight. The service on the flight was great. We even got fed a meal that was way better than anything you would get on three hour flight in the US. We landed about 11 am and took the bus to our hotel.
Our hotel is nice even though it is a little smaller than the last one. The weird thing about the room is the bathroom. It is similar to being in a fishbowl. The wall between the room and the bathroom is glass. Granted it has a curtain, but it still leaves a lot to be desired as far as privacy goes. The hotel opens out onto the intersection of two narrow intercity roads. The road the last hotel was on was very wide
The food in Sichuan province is absolutely amazing. For lunch, I am not so sure Dr. Wong had a clue where we were going to eat. We walked down the street and before long a local restaurant owner was yelling across the street at Dr. Wong. It seemed that they were negotiating a price or something. This restaurant was a mom and pop operation. In fact, they had to go out and buy bottled water for us. The food was great. Every thing here has a kick to it they the food did not have in Beijing. One of the most unique dishes at lunch was corn that was watered and fried. It was basically Chinese junk food.
Dinner was really great. We ate a bigger, more up scale place then lunch. We had dumplings of several types. Spicy noodles here are really spicy and they gave dinner a kick. We also had this dish of fried rice cakes mixed with vegetables and pork. The rice pieces tasted like rice crispy treats.
After dinner we were going to take a walk around Chengdu, but it was raining. Guess that will have to wait until tomorrow.

View of Chengdu, China
. It had about eight lanes of traffic and very wide sidewalks. This hotel located in an area much more similar to what I expected to see in China. The food in Sichuan province is absolutely amazing.
