We woke up at 11am, only because the bus back to Krivan was to leave at 1pm, after a very sound 5 hour sleep. There were a few weary-looking faces back at the Pension Quattro, so we swapped a few yarns and commiserated about hangovers. We managed to round everyone up for the bus (driven by Janko) to Jane's place. We took the long, scenic route to Jane's place, which was good because we drove through some beautifully picturesque countryside, and not so good because long and winding bus rides aren't always beneficial to hungover stomachs.
Waiting for us in the backyard at Jane's place was a big spread of goulash, hard liquor (!) and cold cuts, as well as lots of chairs and blankets. That proved a big hit as everyone just wanted to lie around in the sun. It was a really good recovery day, full of stories, joking around, relaxing, eating comfort food, arranging travel plans, and so on.
Just when I thought I was out of the woods in terms of being publicly embarrassed, I was presented with a doll and instructed to change its mustard-filled nappy, to prove my fathering credentials. I had absolutely no idea what to do and required plenty of assistance. At about 6:45 we all walked down to the train station for the train back to Zvolen and said our goodbyes there.
July 4 (Monday), Krivan
Today was an administrative, loose end-tying type of day, which basically involved zipping around between Zvolen, Banska Bystrica, Detva and Krivan, primarily to sort out Jane's passport and ID card. The process would take a normal person around 1-2 weeks. Because Janko is both a fast driver and a policeman with a lot of connections, we got it all done in one day.
In the evening we went to this cool place called "The Well". It is downstairs in what looks to be a cave, dimly lit and kinda spooky.
