Phew - thank God it's Friday! Another tough week comes to an end. I call this a 'technical' day, in that most of it is spent with various types of electronic equipment. By the time we have uploaded our photos, typed up this blog, edited some videos together and uploaded them too, all for the benefit of our faithful online following, it is mid-afternoon.

This means it is time to leave Wellington for a few days, as we are off to sunny Hawkes Bay to spend the weekend with my sister Jess and her boyfriend Guy. Our mode of transport to Palmerston North is the good old Intercity bus/coach service, which crawls through unseasonably heavy traffic getting out of Wellington but drops us at the Palmerston North depot at 7.20pm, only 10 minutes late. As it happens, Jess and Guy are late, leaving us waiting for half an hour at the depot. They have a bunch of stuff, so they bring one car each - I go with Jess and Jane drives with Guy. It is a two hour moonlit drive through the Manawatu Gorge and the central North Island countryside, to Guy's parents' place, just outside Havelock North in the East coast of the Island.

We are actually staying in a little cottage just down the drive from Guy's parents' house. It is about 100 years old and converted from some old stables but has a nice homely feel to it. Everyone is a bit tired so we have a lazy cuppa and then it's off to bed. My allergies start playing up again due to some woollen blanket but we bought some pills in Wellington and they seem to help.
