"............for days they marched us through endless driving rain and fog, on paths flowing like rivers better straddled than marched.........our slave masters forced us on with whip, chain and gnashing teeth..............poor Cornelius could not go on, his many years dragging his legs into the mud where he was  left to be devoured by leech and tiger..................at night we slept with the filth of swine and dog, but only after we had stitched 1000 wallets each for the markets, without thimble our thumbs became pincushions, our eyes buttons..........and our reward for this?.......cold grey gruel served by the cackling Mr.Black..........."

Apologies to Series 4 Camp Krusty Simpsons episode for any misguided inspiration for the above text.

OK there is just a little poetic license here...........

Cornelius didn't die...........but he did fall on his ass a bit..........poor old Dutchy.........!

Our slave masters were in fact the sweetest bunch of Thai you could meet, and we had a great time with them....

The food was mostly really yummy!

It did however rain in almost biblical proportions and the downhill paths literally became slippery slides which were literally straddled by us.................at one point I questioned Kem whether or not a kayak might be more practical.........

And as for the wallets ...................well we might not have made them but we were definetly made to feel like we should buy them........and maybe the wallets were silk handicrafts............

Anyhoo we're off to Chiang Rai now...........

much love
