Where I stayed
It is a small island which no cars can drive on and no ATMs, and walk or boat ride to some beautiful beaches.
When we arrived we checked in, and then went out to meet our friends made in rio for some dinner and drinks on the beach and then headed for the party at our hostel.
The following day we headed out on a boat to lopaz Mendez, a short boat trip and then a short hike through some tropical rainforest and we arrived. The sand on the beach is so fine, almost like powder and squeaky to walk on. The weather was a little cold (it's winter here!) so we just relaxed on the beach watching the surfers. On our walk back to the boat we stopped at a cute restaurant out in the water, you hop in a boat on a pulley system and the owner pulls you across
The second full day on the island we headed out on another boat trip to a few places on the island. The first stop was a beach called praia de feiticeira, where we went for a hike into the tropical rainforest to waterfall cachoeira de feiticeira. The waterfall lead into a shallow rock filled pool where you could get underneath the waterfall. we spent some time here, then hiked back to the beach and then spent more time on the beach.
Back on the boat we headed to Praia do amor, where you could do some snorkeling.
It was a pretty cold day (and colder in the water) which was a shame as the places we went to had potential to be so amazing. It would be an amazing place when the weather is warm.
We went to the local street party on the Friday night which was amazing, it was so crowded, lots of music, samba dancing and food & drink everywhere! There were even huge dessert carts that roam around!
The last day on the island it was sunny and warmer so we enjoyed a few hours of tanning until our ferry and bus to our next destination, paraty.
