After an average nights sleep, we arose ready for day 2 of the trek. It is the worst day of the trek, hiking for 12km, from 3,000m to the highest point of the trek, warmiwanusca (dead women's pass) at 4,215m above sea level. Then dropping back down to 3,600m for the 2nd nights camp.

Due to the difficulty of the trek and chance of adverse weather we weren't having lunch until reaching camp, around 7hrs of trekking.

We started off as a group and quickly formed smaller groups of fast, medium and slow paced hikers! Jake was always in fast pace and kat in slow to medium.

We had two rest stops prior to reaching dead women's pass, by the time kat arrived at 2nd stop altitude sickness had sunk in dramatically, making the final trek to 4,215m to dead women's pass difficult to say the least. Thankful with the assistance of the guides, some smelling alcohol to help try and clear the altitude sickness, and support from jake and the rest of the group she made it! Jake was the first to make it to the top, in an outstanding 45 minutes!!

After some photos we headed off for camp, dropping 615m over 4kms. We arrived at camp for lunch, and then the chance for a nap, before tea and dinner and an early night.

Alot of hard work I think, but I'm sure it was worth it. Do you wish you had done more preparation now or is it more just the altitude that is getting to you? Happy trekking. Love Mum
