Hey!
So yesterday it rained and it was like Christmas. We had been having lack of water problems for a couple days and it was getting really rough since we didn't have much for showering, flushing toilets, laundry, drinking, etc. So I think it was close to one of the best days of our lives when the downpour came yesterday :-)
We've started our teaching practicums and they are going very well! Basically what happened was that it was broadcast on local TV that we (WorldTeach teachers) were going to be having a week of classes for high school students, and that if students wanted to participate they just had to sign up. Believe it or not, we had a TON of kids sign up. (can you imagine that happening in the U.S.? kids like, yay yay! summer school!) Anyways, the kids are great and I'm really learning a lot from this teaching experience. I'm teaching Form 4 science, which is like 10th grade. The students are very bright and it is very encouraging to see them learning.
Yesterday we visited an Amerindian village, Agatash, which was right on the river. It was very beautiful and peaceful...i'll try to post pictures, but it takes forever to upload them so it might be a little while.
So I posted a few links to other volunteers' pictures on the main page of my travelogue. Their pictures are really great...probably a lot better than mine :-) So you should definitely check those out. I also want to apologize for my severe typing and spelling issues in the last few entries...haha, I read them over and was wondering what the heck I was thinking. I think I was just typing so fast and so excited for internet that I couldn't control my words :-)
So I hope all is well in the States, keep in touch!!
~ oh yea, and when I get to Friendship (August 19th, i think) Tiffany and I will be getting a cell phone, so then I'll have a phone number :-)
