From Bulgaria we moved onto Lake Orhid, Macedonia with our Australian friend, Matt.
The overnight bus was supposed to arrive at 5.30am however, we were left stranded in Macedonia at 3.30am. I have no idea what any normal person would do in this situation. I was quite happy to go and lie by the lake and wait till a more appropriate time to go knocking on peoples doors for accommodation. Not so. The boys dragged me around Orhid in a bid to find three beds. I can't complain, it payed off. We woke up Mimi, a very nice Macedonian man who was happy to do anything for his Australian guests.
It was in Mimi's apartment (which we rented) where me and Nads probably had our first major argument that was moderated by Matt (it probably didn't help that I spent some cash from the kitty on a case of Macedonian beer with Matt). Basically, we wanted to go to Montenegro in a couple of days time, there was only one problem. For those who are into their geography, you'll know that seperating Macedonia from Montenegro is Albania to the west and Kosovo to the north. I was keen to disregard the talk of people that Albanian's are savages and will take everything you own and instead thought it would be cool to check out a country that no-one gives a second thought too. Nadja on the otherhand wanted to get a direct bus to Montenegro which would involve a deadly, daring and quite frankly stupid bus ride through Kosovo (it wasnt bad at all, i just wanted to go to Albania). I finally won the argument and it was off to Albania the next day.
