After struggling to get any accommodation we finally checked into ´Residental Vicky´. The place was o.k. but Vicky seems to have taken a huge dislike to us and treats us like children (fair enough usually, but we haven´t been drinking and have been on our best behavior). She wont even let us boil water on our own!!!
Santiago has been highly unrated by a lot of the travellers we have meet so far and it`s pretty easy to see why. The people here have been less than friendly, the smog hangs low and really thick, the place stinks and the women are pretty hideous.
Anyway we headed out determined to make the most of what was on offer. We visited a nice hilly park called Serro Santa Lucia before climbing a massive hill to a Christ statue, with a very smoggy view of Santiago. After this we visited the Pre-Columbium museum, which was actually a fantastic museum with brilliant displays a wide range of different artifacts.
After hanging out in the plaza for a while we took the metro for a quick ride to check it out before heading home to be harassed by vicky again. Later that night we decided to head out to check out the nightlife despite our self-imposed drinking ban. We at least thought the nightlife would prove to be worthy, but after 3 hours of walking all we could find were strip bars, gay bars and very shabby bars on the sidewalk . Returning home at about 3am we vowed to get the hell out of Santiago a.s.a.p.
