From Auckland we decided to head pretty much straight up past Wangarei somewhere. It took a decent amount of time just to get off the motorway but at the first chance I got I detoured onto the coastal route. We passed many picturesque bays before deciding to drive all the way to ....... Bay to a pretty important spot for our family.

My cousin Amber is buried here on a Maori Burial Site after her Boyfriend and Her car was struck by another car that was being chased by a Police Car four years ago. They were both young and very much in love. Its a pretty tragic event. I was living in London at the time and couldn't get over, so this was the first chance I had to visit her. The site itself is sitting in a stunning bay, a really magic place and her grave is marked by a massive Maori stone carving. It was quite a somber visit, the last time I had been near Amber was when I last came to Auckland and we had all gone out together in town.

After visiting Amber we found a fantastic Campsite nearby but unfortunately I had no cash on me only my credit card and the place didn't take cards, Unheard of in NZ! We continued further afield when we past an unusual place where I had seen campsite advertised. I reversed down the gravel road and we ended up in one of those rare, unusual super friendly places that occasionally you stumble on. The people running it were all so friendly and down to earth. We had a massive BBQ that night along with a few wines and Vodkas before getting onto the home  made alcohol. The rest of the night was spent sitting around the campfire outside talking complete and absolute bollocks. It was a good night, Ali seemed to enjoy herself   (Aye Ali!). But seriously this hostel is the business their is so much to do their so I'll try and add the link.
