After I had dropped the guys off at the ferry Terminal it was my turn to make tracks. I didn't relly have a plane for the day except to head towards Nelson. I drove back down through Blenheim, which was a bit of a mistake as I could have driven through direct to Havlock, Home of NZ mussles. Instead I tooke the long way round through he Maarlborough Wineries.

I pretty much drove straight through to Nelson and spent a good part of the morning wandering the city. It seemed pretty laid back and a really nice place bt I was determined to make it further up the coast so about midday I headed off again.

The next stop was at Rabbit Island, a recreation reserve with unspoilt beaches. It was pretty busy but I had brought some things for lunch and so headed off to the beach for an hour for lunch. The water up here is a crazy blue/green colour. The beach was relaxing enough but there were hordes of flys that were turning me insane. Once again I ended up in the car. I drove through Mapua, Ruby Bay and then onto Motueka before eventually hitting Kaiteriteri, where I planned to spend the night

Kaiteriteri was a nuts place. Don't get me wrong the place is gorgeous with prisitne yellow sands leading into lush waters, iddilic islands with native bush jutted out just offshore. But it was just sooo jammed packed with people it was crazy. After having some doubts I ended up staying at the Motor Camp right in town, this place is massive holding litreally a thousand people and hundreds of tents. This place seemed to be Kiwi holiday central with scores of screaming, laughing, crying kids running about whilst the oldies sunk a few beers and cooked on their all in one BBQs. At about Ten at night when most of the kids had been fed, had had their tantrems and then been put to bed I actually managed to get an awesome nights sleep.
