After arrivng at the port of Patras in Greece we then had to board a train to travel the reamining distance down to Olympia. Once here we managed to find our campsite 'Camping Diana' which was a nice little spot on the edge of town. On our first day we just relaxed about town window shopping, interneting and geeting a bite to eat.

The next day we were up bright an early walking to the ancient site of Olympia which lies half a kilometre from the town itself. The day itself was awesome with the sun beating down all day. The site of the ruins was spectacular and on a fairly large scale. Olympia was a sacred place of temples, priest dwellings, and public buildings as well as being the venue for the Olympic Games first held here in 776bc. Atbthe site we just took our time wandering around in amazment at the various buidlings, countless columns and gigantic stonework. We also took to a section of the site that was the orignal running track, with countless tourits trying to recreate the scene by speeding down the track like fools. We spent the most part of the day here before retreating to our campsite in the pool and then going our to a resteraunt latter that night.

The next morning, I ventured out by myself to the site to be at the gates at opening time again so I could wander around taking photos in the bright orange sunrise that overcame the site. This was a pretty special time for me with almost no one there was a good hour or so and it made for some good shots.
