We immediately had a very good feel about Barcelona despite having long hot hard slog hitching in and the fact a lot of the hotels were full. After hiking around backback bound and drenched in sweat we finally got into a decent, cheap place just of La Rambla, the heart of Barcelona. Barcelona has long, wide stretching boulevards and a modern water front complex down on the harbour.
We visited the La Sagrada Familia, Gaudis half-finished cathedral with only 5 of the 18 towers built with the remaining to take another 80 years to finish. The result is just amazing in the detail that has gone into the façade and towers. But generally we just wandered around the streets people watching.
