City of Romance and smelly beds.

The French Capital or city of romance turned out to be a mixture of stunning architecture, parks, history and colossal sized monuments, all mixed together with a lot of rain, sightseeing and dodgey hotels. Emilie and I caught the Euro Star from Waterloo, just across the road from where we had been working at the Wellington. We soon had sped through the tunnel in the start of our 9-month Euro Trip. We arrived in overcast weather and headed into central Paris to find a hotel. Unfortunately this turned into a huge mission, as everything was full. We viewed one hotel that I was fine to stay in but I guess in hindsight a room with stained bedding, wallpaper peeling of the walls and mould growing in the carpet is not every girls dream of how they had imagined Paris. We finally found a nice hotel with classic Paris street views from the window. The bed did have a very strange smell however, not an entirely horrible smell but a strange smell nonetheless.
Highlights had to be the Arc De Triomphee for its size, position and that crazy roundabout below Place Charles de Gaulle.

The Eiffel Tower, larger than I expected and twice as stunning once lit up every hour after 10pm. The Lourve for its shear size and works such as L. De Vinicis 'Mona Lisa'. The Basilique De Sacre Coeur for its basilica overlooking Paris and its easy going, laid back streets. Notre Dame despite the huge wait and bad weather and of course Disneyland Paris.
