Joined the steady stream of backpackers heading for an early start at the central station. I finally worked out my platform number and was pretty confident until the train screeched past me down the platform. A quick dash and a feeble attempt at getting local help to find my carriage I ran out of time and dived backpack first through the nearest door. I surprisingly found an open seat on the crowded train and moments later after inspecting my ticket realised it was actually my allocated seat. Sweet. Before long my station appeared from nowhere and I again through myself about backpack first out the door. I was picked up at the station by some hostel staff touting for business and was quickly settled into the hostel and paid up for two nights. I then wandered into town. I managed to reach the old Town Square dominated by the townhall tower, statues and the cloth hall with markets inside the yellow renaissance hall dating back to the 16th century. At night I took in the atmosphere before heading back for another well earned sleep. The next day I headed to the Wawel Castle and Cathedral and then worked my way round to the 'Dragons Cave' a cave with a statue of a dragon that spits fire every few minutes. Awesome!
Had a Pizza and a beer for lunch before checking out tickets to Budapest. After that I headed to the Florian Gate and the Barbican, a defensive bastion built in 1498. I hung around in the lively old square before going back to the hostel to get my tripod and then taking a few snaps that night. On my final day I had left the hostel by 8.30 fully equipped with backpack and headed straight to the station to buy my ticket that ended up cheaper than quoted yesterday, I also stashed my pack here. After that I headed back to the square to chill out before having Pizza again for lunch and wandering round other parts of Krakow. At 8pm it was finally time to catch my train.
