Arrived in Estonia after going through customs and getting my first stamp in my passport as I was in a non EU country, about time! After deciding my hostel couldn't possibly be inside the old walled town, I ended up getting myself more than lost before discovering it was inside the old walled town. I eventually arrived at the 'Barn', jumped in the shower and then headed straight out to check out Tallinn by night. A mix of darkened alleys brought to life by brightly coloured architecture and a bustling nightlife greeted me. Later that night I ended up in the 'Jumping' bar which to my surprise sold Steinlager a kiwi beer. I got up the next morning early so I could see the sights without my backpack. It was well worth the effort as the streets, first empty were lit up by the ever-increasing light and warmth of the new day sun.
The Inside of the domed church was unbelievable and has to be seen to be believed. I visited all the cobblestone streets of Tallinn and by midday had checked out most of what I wanted to see. Anyway it was once again to jump onto another short bus ride to Tartu.
Hey there thanks for the comment. At the time of my first visit to Estonia it wasn't part of the E.U. Estonia has been a member of the European Union since 1 May 2004 and of NATO since 29 March 2004. It is however an awesome place. Cheers-Jag
