We were driving along the road this morning when we noticed all the cars on the side of the road looking up. Turns out it was the eclipse of the sun today, so we pulled over to take a look. We set up our pin hole viewer to get a better look and managed to get a couple of photos as well.
I have now left the comfort of the station wagon now and said farewell to my mates Pete and Emma. I got them to drop me off outside Hamburg where I will now be hitchhiking. They are off to Amsterdam and then back to London.
After a tense hour of no rides I managed to get picked up by the worst car on the road that day. The young guy driving didn't speak a lot of english seemed to think I was pretty crazy travelling around. After only 1km we got stuck in a massive traffic jam. An hour after that he dropped me off at a campsite so I could relax a bit before a big day hitching tomorrow. I ended up having a crappy dinner of biscuits and tea.

After a hot shower I packed up and walked along the rood to the E-45 to a suitable hitching spot. It took a while to get a ride but eventually a young German couple picked me up and took me 70km to just south of a place called Kolding. I was on the road for less than 10 minutes before another German lady took me as far as Kolding. From here I walked to another place for hitching but got frustrated and started walking up the motor way. Not one of my smartest ideas! I guess the constant honking from lorries blasting their way down the motorway and the shredded tyres on the side of the road is a pretty big hint you shouldn't be there.
Anyway a very sore, tired and dehydrated Jag would have kept on walking until a big jolly Danish truck driver stopped for me. Very relived to once again be on my way I found out he was going to Arhus my aimed destination for today.
In town I brought some food and drink before finding a place to camp. I ended up having to hurriedly dive into the first place I could find in a field next to the road amongst the rain. I was so tired that day but had made good distance so was quite pleased about it.
