The next day we travelled down through Norway and back into Sweden and headed down to catch the ferry into Denmark amongst the first rain in two weeks. We reached Denmark early evening and drove up the coast to North Zealand.

We headed up to Hillerod in North Zealand to see Frederiksborg Castle, a Dutch renaissance castle built mostly in the 1600's and built over three small islands. The water fountain in the square was stunning in its beauty and intricacy
After our visit here we drove another 30 minutes into Copenhagen, which had a rugged beauty about the town. There were lots of monuments, churches and royal building blackened by time which created a real gothic feel to the city. One part of Copenhagen that was amusing to stroll through was the Christianshaven district, a really hippy-fest, full of market stalls openly selling different types of pot. Pete remarked it was like walking into a time warp and belonged in the 70's.
