Left the campsite early this morning and drove deeper into the heart of Sweden on our way to Vadstena. We passed a glassy calm lake that stretched for miles and also and old castle ruin before we reached Vadstena. We parked outside a stunning castle sitting on the lake and strolled around the grounds before I decided to take a swim in the lake. Words cant express how refreshing it was especially since I hadn't had a shower since Prague. After our break here we got back in the car and drove towards Stockholm. Realising we weren't going to make it the full distance today we embarked on a pointless tour through the country back-roads trying to find a decent place to crash. After driving through uncharted bush and getting extremely lost we wound up in a decent spot only to be attacked by Mosquitoes, Hornets and Ants.
The next morning we packed up and Emma managed to drag Pete out of bed so we could continue onto Stockholm.Once there we were faced with a city that was simply breathtaking with the many waterfront islands sparkling in the Sun. We climbed the cityhall tower for an impressionable view, strolled across the bridge and into the older town, watched the Royal Guards perform at parliament and soaked up the suns heat. Later in the day we decided to get in a few miles and managed to get about halfway up Sweden and camped in a huge sandpit in the middle of the bush, which was swarming with ants and buzzing with Mosquitoes. We enjoyed a 5 litre mini keg of beer in front of the campfire before heading to bed. The next day we planned to get above the Arctic Circle.
