My last day in London. I've managed to tick most of my must sees off my list.
Over to Royal Albert Hall this morning by bus, and then up into Hyde Park. This place is absolutely humungus. Walked forever and finally found the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain. This is very well done. Sort of inspires the need for an innertube for a ride around, but once I got past that, it is a beautiful place to visit no matter what your thoughts on the Princess are or aren't. Water starts at the top, and goes down two ways, fast moving/slow/rapids sounding/silently to a pool at the bottom. It's the type of place I think one needs to linger at to fully enjoy and appreciate.
Then we walked over to Speakers' Corner (I planned the visit to the park on Sunday for this). Again, huge park, it took forever. Wandered among the speakers. They were all speaking about one religious belief or another, from many different and some interesting perspectives.
As much as my feet didn't appreciate it, I really liked Hyde Park - from ornate memorials, to peaceful ponds, to outspoken individuals, it seems to have a bit of something for everyone.
Off from here and down to buy our train tickets for tomorrow morning. We don't want to end up missing our train again due to long lines - that's a real drag.
Down to Westminster Pier and got on a boat to Greenwich. This was one of Laura's must-dos. Turned out to be one of my highlights. Had to walk up quite the hill to the observatory where the Prime Meridian line for all the photo opps is - again my feet not happy. It was really cool though seeing the line and the clock - I now get it why CBC Radio does the chime thing at 1pm. We didn't wait in the long line for the usual photo opp, and instead cheated and took one from in behind - same Prime Meridian anyway.
Back to the room to prepare for our flight to Belfast tomorrow.
