Only one night in Cambridge, so off to London this morning. I am on the bus because I was able to get a ticket from Cambridge to London for only 1 pound! I really prefer the coach - I think I get to see more of the country. Coming into London on the bus was great because I got to see some real working neighbourhoods, and then we drove past many of the big sights.
London is amazing and overwhelming. There is a statue, fountain, monument, or beautiful building around every corner. Sometimes more than one. I can't imagine the resources that were used to create them, and what is needed each year to maintain them.
Found the underground with no problem, got a travelpass, and managed to find my room without getting lost - yaah. I like the b & b and my room. The fellows who run the place seem very nice. There are only two rooms, so it should be quiet.
Went out and had a late lunch - found a Vietnamese place - my Vietnamese withdrawal has been cured. Laura will be pleased to hear that it's not far so we can go as much as we like - lol.
Walked down to Piccadilly Circus (I don't know how anybody knows where they are) and took a city bus to follow a self-guided tour that I had printed out. Very impressed with myself for figuring it out. Didn't get too far before I was getting cold (I forgot my sweater) and it was getting dusky anyway.
Still trying to figure out where to walk in a crowd. They drive on the left, signs say to keep left on the subway, but it seems in crowds most people keep right.

choice of food
It's OK - you can get soup and I'll find the french bistro with ingredients from France and have baguette and pastries! Looking forward to exploring with you.
