I went to sleep at 9.00 last night, that was after making myself stay awake from 7.30. So much for going wild and crazy while I'm beyond the clutches of my husband ! I woke up at about 6 (which is unheard of for me ) but not suprising since I'd gone to bed at 9, however I soon dropped off again and the next minute it was 8 o'clock. Got up , tidied up showered and went for breakfast. The other hotel guests came for breakfast too, They are 2 women holidaying together from Texas. The older of the 2 was a real hoot. Then there was a single career woman holidaying on her own, and the other 2 had taken her under thier wing. I would have liked to spend a little more time with them all, they seemed good fun, as did Kevin the hotel owner. These women and 2 men, staying on business, were all planning to have a cook out by the pool that night. I can only presume this is a grand BBQ type social event and not a competition to seee who makes the best burgers or marinade ! Must ask Bob and Evlyn for a translation. So , very soon after  that B & E came to pick me up, and after our mutual greetings with Bob confessing that in his mind he'd thought they were picking up Liz Hamilton ( who was on the cruise that we met B & E on ), how humiliating. However he hid his disappointment rather wel , made a quick recovery and off we went to ......... the hardware store and the bank. My first big treats on St. Croix! And the bank was Barclays bank, woud you believe. Having completed our chores Bob drove us back to thier house. I may have mentioned it before, if I have bear with me, but B & E have retired here from the rat race of LA. And they really shouldn't be retired at thier age. They are both in their mid forties ! They decided, after scouring the carribean, to build a house on St. Croix. The plot they  have is really  a fabulous location. It's perched on top of a hill and from their terrace patio you see wonderful hills in front of you ( like the volcanic ones of St. Lucia, all pointy and green ), with a mad castle type house on top of the one directly in front of us and houses dotted around on the others. To the right is the north shore with a view out to Buck Island, which is a world heritage site ( I do believe it is in the book that you bought H for his bday, Sam ) and to the left is a view of the south shore with the carribean sea stretching endlessly out before you. To say the view is stunning is an understatement.
