The Journey Begins. It is hard to believe that after a year of planning, weeks of preparation, and a full day of packing it was time for me to depart on my journey. I left with my family on Friday Jan. 13th and we headed for the St. Louis Airport where we stayed at the St. Louis Renaissance Airport Hotel so we would not have to wake up as early to catch our 730 flight. . I woke up at 430 that morning and started to get ready for my trip. By 530 we were out of our room and on our way to the airport which was surprisingly busy. The flight departed on time and we landed in Orlando a few minutes early. In Orlando we had an hour and a half layover till our flight to the Bahamas. This fight was delayed due to the weather (Florida was experiencing strong winds). Due to the weather our flight was very bumpy I have never been on a flight this rough before, and I was very happy to be back on solid ground in Nassau. After we went through customs we caught a cab and headed to the Resort. The Atlantis Resort is located on its own island which is called Paradise Island. The property is huge, and beautiful. There are many pools, slides, palm tress, and a white sandy beach. We have spent most of our time exploring the property and looking at the wild life that is on the property. The Atlantis is home to over 50,000 marine wild life animals. One of the water attractions at the resort is called the Mayan Temple which has 5 different waterslides located in it. One is called the Leap of faith which is a 3 story drop straight down. I have not done this slide, and I am not sure if I will. Joshua and I did a slide in which you get on an inner tube, and wind quickly down the inside of the temple, part of the slide is an enclosed glass tube in which you float through the shark tanks. It is really cool. They also have slides which are side by side and you can race the person next to you. The service is great, everyone makes sure that you are doing alright, and at the pool they have servers that walk around and get your drinks for you. My mom and I went gambling at the casino, but we did not win any money. The only draw back to the resort is everything is very pricey; especially the food. My mom, sister, and I also went into town and checked out the local shops.

I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for all of your support while I have been getting ready for my voyage. Without all of your help I would not be here. I want to thank my parents for supporting and encouraging me to go on the voyage. Without their financial support I would not have been able to go on this voyage. I also want to thank my office for their encouragement and support. I know that I am forgetting some people, and to those who I am forgetting I also wanted to say thank you for everything. I will write again in Puerto Rico.
