That evening, we went back to the bus station again ready for our bus to Tacna. We had splurged an extra few Soles on 'luxury' seats. These unfortunately did not turn out to be particularly luxurious. However, we settled in, waited for the film, which it eventually became apparent was not going to be shown, gave up and got out books just as the lights went out. At 8pm. Time for bed, it seems.

We got a little sleep in before the thermostat was turned up and the temperature became akin to that preferred by reptiles. Actually, even desert dwelling reptiles would have found it uncomfortable. There were no staff types that we could ask to turn it down and in a crowded bus, there are only so many garments that can reasonably be removed. We arrived in Tacna at around 7am, hot and sticky and feeling vaguely ill. With the border to Chile almost in sight, we just needed to work out how to get across.
