We're in New York, New York (so damn big they named it twice)! To avoid keeping our body clocks on UK time, we stayed up till gone 10 pm last night, which was 3am UK time...and we'd been up since 6. Whatever anyone tells you about US immigration paranoia, they let us in so it can't be all that bad. We filled in forms on the plane, put our fingers on little scanner things and had a quick snap from a camera mounted on the desk at Passport Control, got Passports stamped and we were in. No "Who are you and what do you want with my great and wonderful country you long haired hippy freak?", no dental torture, no electrodes...it's fine, quick and painless. Shame as much can't be said for the cab ride to our hostel.
We walked through bits of Central Park and down 5th avenue, over into Times Square (yes, it looks the way it looks on telly), and had the most American meal we could manage! We went to Virgil's Real Barbecue on West 44th and Broadway, just off Times Square, had cold beers, barbecued chicken wings, burger and fries...and "Train Wreck Fries" for Kirsty. That's an iron skillet loaded up with freshly made fries, piled with cheese, scallions, jalapeno peppers, bacon and ranch dressing. She ate about a third of it.
Today...we'll see. Something unashamedly touristy though, whatever it turns out to be.

What you're unaware of is that the little scanner has reconfigured the DNA in your finger, it's now a tracking device.
Uncle sam is now watching you.
