Turns out there IS a fence between the US and Mexico .. . but only enough to keep cars out . . .we drove 100 miles today and saw the boarder fence in several areas.
The fence to keep vehicles from Crossing the Mexican/US border
Along the way there were of course the cactus flowers. Teddy bear cholla are nick-named "Jumping Cactus" because they will jump out and get you . . . And sure enough I manage to step on some the one step that I took without looking down where I put my foot today . . Fortunately John and Sallee had a pair of pliers because there was not a pair in our Jeep.
And we found these beautiful flowers . . some kind of Poppy or Thistle they looked like . . .
And there is this emergency station where if you push the button there will be border patrol with water to pick you up within an hour. .. .. designed specifically for the Mexicans trying to walk across the desert without adequate food and water.
I really think this looked like a skull laying on top of the mountain. But then I could be seeing things!
One of the more interesting things we stopped and looked at . . .a yellow and black Gila Monster.
Hope everyone enjoyed my day at the desert .. .

Run For The Border
GREAT Pictures! Unfortunately the Border Fence is proven to be Not As Sold to the US Tax Payers.
Border Fence
NO KIDDING???
Not to mention the latest trick is to put the cars full of Mexicans in a vehicle on a car carrier . . back up to the border . . and drop the ramp on the other side of the border .. . So much for steal post fences. At least the new fence is taller so they have to walk around the end of the fence. . .

More great photos!
Hi Jackie...once again you have outdone yourself with wonderful photos of 'the beauty of the desert'. So many people drive through so fast they have no idea of the geology, animal life and plant life to be discovered in America's Southwest.
Thank you for this world-wide exposure.
Em DeVine...who occasionally gets to drink in these lovely sights first hand.
