First day in Alicante

I finally arrived last night, was met at the meeting point by my
landlord, and was shown to my apartment and left there to settle
in. None of my roommates were there. I waited for them
until I got too cold and went to buy a sweater. Everything was
closed. I went back home to discover that, while my key did
indeed fit in the lock, I am somehow incapable of using it to open the
door. I waited outside the door, and fortunately my Spanish
roommate, Inma showed up not too much later. She gave me some of
her food and was very very nice. I met the American roomie a
little later, but I had to go to bed. I got up this morning to
meet our group for the mandatory orientation. Unfortunately our
meeting poin, the flower shop, was not where I remembered. So I
went back home to grab my laptop and catch the bus. I couldn´t
open the door. I rang the bell and woke up my German roommate who
let me in. I basically had time to introduce myself and leave
again - I´ll meet him officially later. I got on the right bus
and found the uni, and after a tense period of trying to explain my
situation, I found the rest of the group. My classes are all
figured out, I went to the computer lab for a bit, and now I´m about to
have lunch. Jenny is going to show me exactly how to get to the
flower shop from my street, so there´s a good chance I´ll make it to
the meeting point for tomorrow´s walking tour of the city. And
maybe not get lost any more...
¡Ojalá!

hola jackie! i am so proud of you! geez...those first few days sounded stressful. i would have crapped my pants, ate some candy and then cried myself to sleep in the fetal position. well done! you didn't do any of those things! it sounds wonderful! i read all your posts so keep 'em coming! i hope your roomies can come close to comparing to yours truly and g-rock.
mucho carino,

Re: felicidades!
NO roomates could come close. These mofos here don´t even eat candy.
Does Geny have a blog that you know of or is she just myspacing it? Barfing her way through Peru AND Mexico... talk about stressful!
I´m delighted to see you already found my blog - I just sent the first e-update today so you are ahead of the massive crowds that will without a doubt be clamoring to read about me.
PS there is a kid in our group that looks pretty much EXACTLY like Ralph.
si, vale
i read the new blog. Wow, a man that looks like mine? imposible! jk. i duno if g has a blog, but I understand she got violently ill. Ahhh...what an experience. Hee hee! I am very proud of you both.
Sounds like you are really getting edumacated over there. Just don't go all Franco on my ass. Just kidding. I know very little of the Spanish way of politics/history because I never paid attention to those annoying passages that started every chapter of every Spanish book I ever had to read.
Good luck in the days ahead and for God's sake leave 5 minutes earlier than you usually do! I am getting stressed out for you!! ;)
Adios,
Erin
