Where I stayed
Tom & Louise's New Appartment!

Flag of Switzerland  , Zürich,
Saturday, August 27, 2011

We left Nonnenhorn around 4 pm and arrived in Zurich 2 hours later. We were at first disheartened to see that Tom and Louise had not come to meet us like they said and we tried to figure out where excacty they lived, but to our joy Tom rode up on his bike after just returning from the mountains. Their apartment was only 10min walk from the train station in a very nice area of town with lots of new buildings. When we arrived Louise was preparing hand made tuna/parsley canolonni which was amazingly good.
We spent the evening chatting before heading out for a few drinks. They took us to a nice bar which had 'cheaper' drinks than others. 1 drink=15 Swiss francs=$17.91 CAD. WTF!!!!!!!!! I thought $7 for a drink was excessive back home but this is just nonsense. Louise said that in other bars there is a cover charge of 10-15 Francs, 2-5 Francs for coatcheck, and then 20-25 Francs for a drink. It was ok considering we were having a fun time dancing it up and we got to meet some of their friends before getting a cab back to their apartment. We ended up getting to sleep around 3:30 with plans to go wind surfing the next morning.

Well the next morning came and we were definetly not going wind surfing! We woke around 10 and felt not to good. So instead of windsurfing we headed to a park that we could lay out in the sun and a river that we could float down. The river had a really strong current back there was a 2" thick rope from one side to the other just under the water. If you did it right you could press your feet against the rope and just sit there while the current tried to push you past. When you got the hang of it you could just walk along the rope from one side of the river to the other. We did that for a bit then chilled out in the sun and read.

When we got back to their apartment in the evening we had cheese fondue which was delicious and filling after fighting with the river all day. We decided to leave that night because their other roommate was coming home and we had nowhere to sleep. So we said our goodbyes not knowing when we would see them again and caught the train  back to Nonnenhorn. It was 11:30pm before we got back and we both collapsed out of exhaustion

Ya, we should really get our lasts posts in there. We went home Sept. 1 and have just gone back to our regular lives now. We were getting tired of all the planning and James had just become an uncle and so we wanted to go back home to meet the new little one.
