Once inside it was disheartening to see that we weren't allowed to take pictures anywhere in the museum but we expected it, there are staff everywhere to yell at anyone who lifts their camera in the air. The main attraction was the David statue and it was a lot bigger than we expected, 17ft high. We laughed when we realized that David was actually David of 'David and Goliath' because it took us so long to clue in. The building was built specifically for the statue and was moved there 200 years ago from its original location. Inside different wings of the museum were other sculpturs or plaster molds that Michelangelo or other artists had done. It is amazing how real and life-like they all looked (besides the lack of colour) and the detail in each one.
When we were done with the museum we headed to the 'Duomo', a huge cathedral. We were going to go in but realized we hadn't brought enough money for the day so we just took pictures of the outside. Our next stop before leaving was the square where the David originally was, and in its place is a replica so that people might see what it looks like in the open, and here we were allowed to take pictures of it. So of course we took a bunch of pictures of it (some pretty funny yet disturbing ones that we couldn't resist taking) and also of other sculptures that were in the square before heading back to the train and Pisa.
