Where I stayed
When we left the Coluseum we took more pictures of the exterior before heading towards the entrance to Palentine Hill
Walking through the ruins that once housed the Roman Forum and the Great Colossus statue was pretty cool but it would have been awesome to see it 2000 years ago before it had all mostly crumbled down and before the looters came and took all the marble and decorative pieces throughout. How people were able to build buildings like that so long ago is astonishing.
By the end of wandering around Palentine Hill and the ruins we were absolutely wiped from how hot the sun was beating down on us and so we made our way back to our hotel room completely exhausted and needing water and air conditioning! We had a nap, cooled off and read for a while in the room to reenergize ourselves.
Later we went down to the lobby to use the internet to Skype Luke and Amanda and baby Olivia so we could see her again and also get a bit of a tour around their new house. As always it was awesome to see them again and, as they say, not getting to actually see Olivia in person is definately making it harder to stay away, but we'll just have to keep on skyping them regularly till we get back.
