Our second day there we were absolutely set on spending the day at the beach so we packed up our ipods, sunscreen, books, and some fruit and went to check out the beach just down the road from our place. The path through the bushes to the beach ended up being a bit of a cliff to walk down but we managed. The thing about beaches in Croatia is that they are all mostly pebble beaches not sand. This one was the same and so we ended up renting a couple beach chairs for the day. The rest of the day we literally just layed in the sun listening to music, read, and went for the odd dip in the water. It was absolutely a much needed break from walking around all day in the big cities constantly sightseeing (a person can only do so much of that before they stop being
That night we visited with other people staying in the dorms and the other two private rooms. Branco had told us quiet time was 11pm but we ended up staying up till about 1:30am, oops. But one of the couples had talked to him on their way in at one point and told us we should be quiet cz he didn't seem entirely happy so we wispered the rest of the time and figurd it was alright as he didn't come down and say anything. One of the girls that was there was from Brazil and James swore she looked like Penelope Cruz, I don't know if anyone else really saw the resemblance but she seemed pretty flattered.
The next morning James woke up feeling a little crappy but we were still determined to get our beach time in so we packed up again and went to the beach. The weather was kind of cloudy and crappy so the massive rocks around the sides of the bay were empty so we decided to try laying out on those for the day instead of paying for chairs again. We only lasted about an hour or so though before we decided it was way too uncomfortable with edges of rocks digging into us and James still felt crappy so we went back for lunch. James didn't feel well enough to eat though and just went back to bed. We figured he must have gotten a bit of heat stroke and the beers he drank the night before probably didn't help. I ended up just making some lunch, reading and then when the sun finally came out I just layed on my towel on the deck outside to get a little more colour into me, another perfectly relaxing afternoon.
Around supper time James woke up and was feeling a lot better. We ate and then decided to go for a walk around the pier in town and see what was all going on. There was lots of people out shopping around the little stalls, eating in the fancy candle lit restaurants along the waterside, lots of kids running all around, and of course a street performer in the middle of the square. It was cool to see the old town centre lit up at night and to see all the boats tide up in the harbour and then the yachts all lined up and tied up as well....some people just have too mush money! Some of the yachts were massive and had full crews walking around in their crisp clean white uniforms, wouldn't that be the life? After we were done admiring everything we went back to our place for bed.
